About Our Breeds
Here at Diamond Oaks Rabbitry our specialties are: Dutch & Californians
Californians:
|
The Californian rabbit is the second most common meat rabbit. They weigh up to 10 pounds, but don't have a weight limit when showing in the breeding section. There is only one variety of Californians, which is Californian. They are to be very muscular, with well built, thick bones. The only color on them should be white and black/grey. The black is not to be anywhere on the body. The black is only on their ears, nose, feet, and tail. If there is black anywhere else on the rabbit, it will be disqualified.
If you are showing the Californian rabbit in meat pen you will need 3. When showing meat pen the rabbits must weigh 3 pounds, but not over 5 pounds. Your goal is to get the 3 rabbits to look as much alike as possible. They are also to be very muscular with well built bones. When you show meat pen the rabbits are usually no more than 70 days old. |
Dutch:
|
Blue Dutch should have a uniform medium-dark blue, very glossy, running deep towards the skin, to blend into a slate blue undercolor next to the skin. The eye color must be blue-gray. Faults of the blue color would include white hairs, smoky blue, silvery blue, or lilac shadings. It is important that the markings of the Dutch are to be clean and clear, distinct, and free of drags of opposite color. |
